Bridging the Gap project will hold its 2020 Annual Event on 1 December from 10:00 to 11:15 am GMT-5, as part of the 13th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP13).
The side event ‘Building on the Bridging the Gap experience: strengthening policies and practices for inclusion and leaving no one behind‘ proposes a debate on the contribution of the EU-funded project Bridging the Gap to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), gathering around the same roundtable high-level representatives from the United Nations, the participating countries and organisations of persons with disabilities. Based on a dynamic and participatory format, the event will also introduce OHCHR’s policy guidelines on human rights indicators for CRPD-oriented SDGs, and how they can contribute to making the 2030 Agenda disability-inclusive. In addition, concrete results of support to inclusive policies and capacity-building initiatives will be presented, with particular attention to the empowerment of women with disabilities.
This multi-stakeholder event is sponsored by Spain and co-sponsored by the European Union, Austria, Finland, Italy, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) and the European Disability Forum (EDF).
