Adequate standard of living and social protection of persons with disabilities and their families are a centerpiece of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) which declines, under article 28, the obligations of the State parties.
But how to ensure these rights in low- and middle-income countries? On May 15th in Vienna, Austria, Bridging the Gap will discuss with partners and stakeholders about different approaches to social protection in a workshop organised in collaboration with the Austrian Development Agency: a fine opportunity to explore data and initiatives promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia, Zambia and other countries, in line with international commitment to the full implementation of the CRPD and of CRPD-compliant SDGs.
