Paraguay’s response to COVID-19 will be monitored from a disability perspective
Until 30th June, Bridging the Gap will work together with the Paraguayan Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) that are part of the National Commission for the Rights of Persons with disabilities (CONADIS) in the development of a methodology to monitor the implementation of the public policy of response to the health emergency caused by COVID-19 in persons with disabilities, implement this methodology and draft a technical report on the results of this research.
This work will be carried out by technical assistance under the operational direction of the technical cooperation office of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in Paraguay. Its final objective will be the drafting of a report validated by the organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) and the CSOs with recommendations for the response in health emergencies in the short, medium and long term.
To this end, a research methodology in line with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be previously designed and validated together with the project’s national Steering Committee. Subsequently, the data obtained will be analysed and systematized in order to produce a final report that will contribute to a more inclusive public policy response to this and other emergencies.
This action is part of Bridging the Gap’s work in Paraguay to develop an Operational Plan for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities by strengthening the capacity of the institutions involved in CSO CONADIS to monitor and evaluate public policies.
